The Health, Nutrition and Epidemiology line of research has achieved notoriety for its studies on determinants of health and nutrition in urban and rural populations at local and regional level.

This line of research delves into the fields of nutrition, infection and human growth, and epidemiology of deficiency diseases to unveil the gravity, growth rate, and incidence of infectious diseases in childhood. The Health, Nutrition and Epidemiology team also evaluates the Brazilian Unified Health System’s risk factor reduction strategies for chronic non-communicable diseases in different life stages.

Health, Nutrition and Public Policies line of research has promoted and diffused knowledge about the coverage and range of the Food and Nutrition programs implemented in the federal state of Bahia by applying the principles of food safety and public policies evaluation.
In this vein, our researchers value the study and development of methodologies to evaluate nutrition programs and projects.
